I’m super excited to announce that a little project I’ve been working on for a month or so is finally complete! The First Time Manager’s Crash Course is out now on Skillshare.
This is the first in a series of three programmes aimed at first time managers, helping them bridge the gap between the technical skills and processes that their employer (hopefully) is providing, and the leadership skills and insights they need to develop to be effective managers.
This course is for anyone who aspires to manage other people – whether in a formal management or team leadership role, or as a project manager without ongoing human resource management responsibility.
More importantly, it’s for those who have just been – or are about to be – appointed to one of these roles and are a bit anxious about what is involved.
And the reality is, there’s quite a lot involved – most of which nobody ever tells you!
Sure there are some really top-notch employers who have guides, manuals and training programmes for these things, but in the main, most managers have forgotten all the things they needed to learn when they first started… or worse, they remember that they had to figure it out on their own, and they think that you should have to do the same. Like a kind of hazing that nobody ever talks about.
I don’t think that’s good enough.
I think everyone should have access to the tools they need to be successful.
And maybe more importantly, I think the individual contributors they’re about to become responsible for deserve them to have access to those tools! After all, it’s their working lives that will be impacted if they don’t!
The programme follows a simple structure, with Part One focused on building self awareness, Part Two looking at influence, and Part Three on delivering results.
Please take a look – I’d love to know what you think. Also, if you know of anyone who could benefit from this, please let them know about it. If you share this link, they can get two months membership for free!
Can you imagine what would happen if all the high achievers in the world actually stood up and were counted? Little problems, big problems, global problems, local problems… they’d all become things that could be solved. Not quickly, but gradually,
To whet your appetite, I’ve created a little sneak peak of the system I’ve created to do just that. It’s an ebook called Leading From Within: Getting Started.
You can get it in three different ways, depending on your preference:
But whatever you do, don’t settle for another year of feeling unfulfilled. It’s a massive waste, considering your talent, skill and experience.
Let’s make a difference, and get something happening!
